Sleeping chairs in the office - Are they healthy?

Before we talk about ergonomic chairs, let's talk about the importance of sleep in our lives and how it affects our quality of life.

Did you know that March 19 is World Sleep Day? Well, it is and its objective is to make people aware of the importance of getting a good night's sleep.

Many people are still unaware of the benefits of restful sleep and the dire consequences of not getting enough sleep. They simply do not give the importance they deserve to the quantity and quality of their sleep. For this reason, World Sleep Day has been celebrated since 2008, each year with a different slogan. This year 2021 the slogan published by the World Sleep Society has been "Regular sleep, healthy future". This is a call to all health professionals to advocate and educate the world about the importance of sleep in achieving optimal quality of life and improving global health.

Some of the tips they give us to achieve a healthy sleep are the following:

  1. Go to sleep and always get up at the same time.
  2. If you are going to take a nap, make sure it does not exceed 45 minutes.
  3. Avoid caffeine for at least 6 hours before bedtime.
  4. Avoid large meals up to 4 hours before going to bed.
  5. Be physically active during the day.
  6. Don't take your computer to bed. If you are going to work, do it from your desk.
  7. And of course use a bed in which you feel comfortable.
